Stains and how to remove them
Stains are a common problem in carpet maintenance. But how do you clean a carpet properly? Here are some tips:
Vacuum
Use only the parts supplied with your hoover. Make circular movements to suck up all crumbs and dust particles. Avoid using maximum suction power.
Liquid stains
Pat liquid stains dry with a dry cloth. If the stain is still visible, use a special cleaner suitable for the type of carpet you have.
Dry spots
Spray dry stains with carpet cleaner and rub with a white cloth. Rinse with lukewarm water and repeat the process until the stain disappears.
Common problems during carpet maintenance
Yarn loss
The vast majority of the carpets we supply are made of yarn. In doing so, it is normal for new carpets to lose some excess yarn in the beginning. If this keeps happening, please contact us.
Crushing and flattening
Regular vacuuming and using a good underlayment can help prevent crushing and create walkways. This is because the underlay ensures that the yarn stays in the right positions. If you have a rug carpet then you can also sporadically rotate your carpet to better spread the crushing and flattening.
Pilling
These small balls are created when fibre ends get caught in the yarn. Regular cleaning and maintenance can minimise this, but should it occur, you can easily comb the globules out of the carpet with a brush or comb.
Discolor
Exposure to UV rays can cause discolouration, especially in natural carpets. Minimise exposure to natural light for best results.
